Club Information
Capacity:
300
Seating:
fixed, carpeted bleachers line two walls for good stage viewing. The
dance floor is directly in front of and to the side of the stage; a back deck
has a couch, tables and chairs for lounging.
This area also serves as our “green room”, or hospitality area for
touring bands with privacy screens and security. An upstairs open-air
deck provides room to dance under the stars or hang out at the bar under the
moonlight. You can view the stage from most vantage points in
the club except for the back deck.
On
busy nights there are as many as four bars for your convenience. The main
bar has full liquor service plus many imported, microbrewed and specialty
beers. Most nights the club is open from 8:30 p.m. – 2:00 a.m.
Tuesdays thru Saturdays with special shows held on Sundays and Mondays.
Ages
18 and up are welcome; under 18 all ages shows are held periodically. The new smoking ordinance prohibits anyone
under the age of 18 entering unless the show is deemed “all ages”.
Advance
tickets for most touring shows are available at Flamingo Cantina (no service
fee on cash sales/$1 per ticket for credit.
For out of town visitors, you may order tickets to be held at
“Will Call”; please email us your telephone number and the best time to call
and we’ll contact you. Mastercard/Visa/Discover is accepted. Please
bring your card to the show for verification. Out of town orders
must be processed 48 hours before the show.
Stage
Front of house stage is 30” off of the dance floor with ten feet across and ten feet deep; there is a second riser directly behind it and approximately 42” off of the floor and it’s dimensions are 8 feet by 8 feet. Drums are usually located to the rear of this riser next to drum monitor. There are three steps leading up to the stage. There are 4 subs located directly in front of stage, which provides a barrier between artists and crowd. The stage is located next to the wall on the east side of the club; the dance floor is located directly in front and to the west of the stage with bleacher seating rising above the dance floor.
When
necessary, security provides safe access to and from the stage. It is not
possible to move or modify this stage.

for an update.

Promotions
All
bands are required to provide the club with at least ten fliers and a stack of
handbills at least a week before a scheduled gig. Fliers should include
the name of the bands on the bill, day, date and time of show.
Tasteful fliers are recommended; club will not post lewd fliers. It is
highly recommended that you post fliers in local record stores (Waterloo,
Cheapo, Music Mania, ABCDs, etc.), as well as locations that have high foot
traffic such as restaurant and store bulletin boards. Email us a
flier to post on our website: angela@flamingocantina.com. Flamingo
Cantina uses Motorblade Postering Service
512-554-4034. Check out http://www.motorblade.com.
Cost is approximately $40 per 100 fliers hung all
over town.
Bands
that need fliers designed and printed may contact Dave Goren (512)657-4300. Dave has a graphic design company and
provides discounted rates for design and printing for bands, both black and
white and full color. He designs many
of the clubs fliers. He may also be
reached at dgoren@austin.rr.com.
In addition, scheduled bands are encouraged to email press info (a
one page bio and a short one paragraph description of band/music) to angela@flamingocantina.com
which will be included on Flamingo’s website and to be
distributed in Flamingo’s press releases. If your band has a website,
please provide that info and we’ll link to it. Angela will forward CDs, bios and
photos to local press if materials are available at least two weeks prior to
the gig. Jpeg format is required for online photos, fliers, etc.
